ESPN 730’s Justin Thomas joined me to talk Charlotte Hornets, P.J. Hairston‘s starting role and his fit among the starters, Frank Kaminsky being the fifth big man, the rotation and the team on the whole the day before the 2015-16 NBA season starts for Charlotte.
Topics discussed in the podcast:
How P.J. Hairston’s body fits what coach Clifford wants from his starting two-guard on defense;
The coaching staff preferring Jeremy Lamb in a role off the bench;
Marvin Williams being slated to start at the power forward position, while Cody Zeller works better with the bench unit;
Frank Kaminsky as the fifth big man, possibly earning some DNPs and starting off as a 5 to 10-minute player;
The benefit of Jeremy Lin‘s size when paired with Kemba Walker in the back-court;
Charlotte’s tough schedule to start the season;
Justin aaalmost picking Charlotte to finish as the 8th seed;
The good shape Al Jefferson is in and the rise in the salary cap being a great motivation for him;
Nicolas Batum having the possibility of leaving after the season is over.

Surpised there are still question marks on lin has to there the final lineup closing in games, whatever his shooting performance. He simply has the best ability to create offense for the team at the point. I will expect Clifford to do this consistently.

I think Justin just made sure that he covers all ground and thus told us about the various possibilities that might happen. Because the wing spot is an unknown at this point, that’s for sure.
Obviously, Lin should close out the majority of the games and that’s why Justin said that Clifford loves the Kemba and Lin duo to begin with.
